Stripe Rust Control Trials

Stripe Rust control trials

A collaborative research project between NSW DPI and FarmLink Research Limited, under the control of Dr Andrew Milgate, NSW DPI Wagga. Funded by GRDC these trials were part of a larger network investigating efficacy of control measures for wheat and triticale.

The breakdown of stable resistance to many of the current Yr pathogens has changed management strategies for wheat, barley and triticale crops.  To determine the best management package for the control of Yr in moderately susceptible varieties three local trial sites were implemented in 2010.  Sites were situated at Wagga, Temora and Cowra.

The trials were replicated randomised block design and tested various control options for Yr in wheat. Fungicide applications on seed and fertilizer and one or two in crop applications were tested on early and main sown wheats.
