Precision Agriculture
Funded by GRDC, in collaboration with SPAA, Landmark, AgnVet Services, FarmLink Research Limited.
The benefits of Precision Agriculture (PA) have been well documented to Australian grain growers for a number of years. Despite this, and the ready availability of PA tools, it is estimated that less than 10% of Australian grain growers utilise PA beyond GPS guidance in any form (PAA, 2010). The project objectives are to increase the level of adoption of PA ‘beyond guidance’ by broadacre farmers in southern NSW, aiming to have 30% of involved growers using Variable Rate Technology (VRT) by 2013.
The project aims to familiarise growers with Precision Agriculture (PA) technologies and increase the local adoption of site specific crop management.
The project will establish a PA grower group and work through the entire process of setting up Site Specific Crop Managment for two on-farm demonstrations.
