Canola Plus (disease management) - 2003 to 2005

Canola Plus - disease management trials

Project Details (2003 to 2005):

The Canola Plus project was funded by GRDC to extend canola disease research into lower rainfall regions. The project consisted of replicated trials to assess the benefits of various seed and fertiliser applied fungicides (Impact®, Jockey® and Maxim®) for the control of blackleg and damping off diseases, and foliar fungicide control of sclerotinia. The project has shown that whilst economic responses can be achieved through blackleg control, responses to sclerotinia control are inconsistent due to its sporadic nature.

To test selected R&D treatments in a paddock situation, large demonstration strips were also included in the project, with sowing and harvesting undertaken by growers using their own machinery. Treatments included Impact® and Jockey®, compared with nil fungicide. These on-farm demonstrations were conducted from 2003 to 2005.
